PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION

A tender and heartbreaking story of two emigrants workers who end up victims of forces beyond their control. In Steinbeckís lovingly created adaptation of his classic novel, Lennie, a large, strong man with the intellectual capabilities of a small child and his short stocky companion George struggle to seek their own utopia in California during the Depression.

Steinbeck at the Tavern

In a venture away from its bread and butter Shakespeare, the New American Shakespeare Theaterís production of John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" is right on! This show is riveting and completely up to the Tavern's high performance standards. Newcomer Travis Smith is at once strong and vulnerable as Lenny. Other standouts are Marcus Durham as Crooks and Doug Kaye as Candy. Jeff Watkins makes great use of the Tavernís intimate atmosphere with a set that complements Steinbeck's study of friendship and sacrifice. The music adds atmosphere and continuity. Overall, I can't think of a better way to spend an evening than with the American Shakespeare Company. [POST A COMMENT REGARDING THIS REVIEW]

Excellent production, with outstanding performances from entire cast! Our group ranged in age from 12 to 80 and all were thoroughly engrossed and entertained! The Tavern never disappoints!!!!! Thomases [POST A COMMENT REGARDING THIS REVIEW]
